About Henal Chotai
Transformational Mindset and Resilience Life Coach
Finding Strength Through Life's Challenges
My path hasn’t been a straight line, but a winding road of challenges, resilience, and purposeful reinvention.
Perhaps you’re at a crossroads right now, wondering if transformation is possible.
Let me share how I discovered that our greatest setbacks often become our most powerful comebacks.
Early Lessons in Determination
At 16, when my GCSEs didn’t meet expectations, many saw it as a dead end. But I saw a detour.
In 1991, at 18, despite being told my hospitality diploma wasn’t “good enough,” I pushed forward with unwavering determination.
A mindset I now help my clients develop when facing their own critics.
By 22, I was working full-time as a manager while simultaneously pursuing my university degree—proving that commitment exceeds circumstances.
This balancing act taught me skills I now share with clients juggling their own transformational journeys alongside daily responsibilities.
Have you ever felt like everything was falling apart at once?
At 29, I experienced what many would consider a breaking point:
My beloved dog died on my birthday, My 4-year marriage collapsed after being betrayed and I lost my father after his heart transplant
All within just 11 months.
Many would have been crushed. But I chose transformation over despair. I needed to reclaim positivity in my life—just as you might be seeking now.
"Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations."
The Power of Purposeful Reinvention
The following year marked my rebirth: I volunteered abroad teaching English to orphans, I became a mentor to younger volunteers, I conquered my gambling addiction, and I even faced a knife-point mugging and emerged stronger.
From this transformation, I discovered inner strength I never knew existed—the same strength I believe exists within you, waiting to be unlocked.
Finding Love and Creating Dreams
Never giving up on love, I married my soulmate Reena at 38. At 41, my lifelong dream became reality when I opened my own restaurant, channelling my hospitality experience into creating happiness for my community.
Are you holding onto dreams that seem impossible? I’ve been there, and I can help you navigate that path.
When Health Becomes a Wake-Up Call
At 43, months after the birth of my daughter, a life-altering moment arrived. Following a lengthy hospital stay and a Type 1 diabetes diagnosis, a doctor delivered a stark warning about my alcohol abuse:
“You are lucky to be alive.”
In that pivotal moment, I again chose transformation over destruction. My daughter became my motivation to break damaging patterns and rebuild my life. I quit alcohol completely and never looked back.
Has a health scare or important relationship made you reconsider your habits? This kind of motivation can become your greatest catalyst for change.
Crisis as Opportunity
During COVID-19, when my business was forced to close temporarily, I didn’t see defeat. Instead, I recognised an opportunity to serve my community in new ways.
I became more involved with the charity Hospitality Action. I was then invited to become an Ambassador alongside industry leaders
I appeared on TV, national radio, and in industry publications. Since 2020, I have been invited to talk on BBC Radio London as a regular guest and talk about Mindset as well as Mental Health.
Determination, focus and passion on helping others has become part of me. My caring nature won’t let you down and will help you succeed.
From Experience to Expertise
By 50, I had accumulated not just years, but wisdom. My extensive industry experience in coaching led me to:
Teaching Hospitality apprenticeships, Becoming a Certified Professional Life Coach, Qualifying as an NLP Master Practitioner, Training as a Mental Health First Aider, Serving as an advisory board member and becoming an Ambassador for Accessible Hospitality Alliance
But this wasn’t just professional training—it was a calling to help others transform their lives, just as I had transformed mine.
